Ajax Grips on S.A.A. Colt Copy

Hello Gentlemen,
I recently put a pair of fake ivory
AJAX grips on my copy of a S.A.A. Colt. After about
20 rds.of 44 spec., I noticed the corner of the left
grip had broken and fallen out. I contacted AJAX Grips and ( for those
of you
who did not know the following as I had not known,)
they said they offer "No warranty against
breakage on hand gun grips" and that thier grips
are, "decorative grips for display purposes."

Does anyone know of a grip that you can actually shoot
with, and an elephant doesn't have to die?

  Hello Oden and welcome to GB. Since most folks who own copies of Colt's are not much willing to pony (no pun intended) up the money for "real" grips- just like they were unwilling to spend for a real Colt, after market grips of less than steller quality abound in the $40 to $80 range. Most guys just want something that has a certain look and are not much interested in shooting.
  
  Here are two companies who make top quality grips- pearl, bone, stag horn, ivory, all kinds of walnuts, and a bunch of other materials for SAA that you can use with confidence-they will NOT however be cheap: Roy's Custom Grips, 804-993-3470 and U.S. Firearms Mfg. Co., 877-227-6901. I've examined both of these firms products and find them to be of a very high quality. Keep in mind that some sort of final fitting of the grips to you pistol will almost surely be required.
