Lens case for binocular drop-in umbral lenses
I recently bought four umbral lenses for Zeiss 8x30 B/GA IF ClassiC Olive binocular. These are sunglass lenses that I can drop into the occular lens housing. Two nested lenses are about 1.618 inch x .379 inch (41.1 mm x 9.63 mm). Zeiss no longer makes a protective carrying case for them. I need two cases.
According to Kerry Sullivan at Zeiss, the lenses can be stacked, one atop the other. The dimensions 1.618 x .379 inches is a cylinder of two stacked umbral lenses. The lenses are composed of a light plastic housing surrounding a small sunglass lens in the center. They are profiled (depth) as a flat-bottomed cone. The cone is very slight along the .379 dimension. As near as I can tell, were the case's interior dimensions close enough to the exterior dimensions I've
furnished, no padding is needed. Padding may be a backward step because it could scratch the lenses.
Zeiss-Jena furnished umbral lenses with their military 7x40 EDF
binocular. The lenses were protected and carried in a semirigid
cylindrical plastic case. This inexpensive case looks a great deal like the case that LeeSonic Ear Valves used to come in -- they may still come in this type of case.
Does anyone have a solution to my problem?

I don't know if it would work or not but that sounds about the same size as the plastic box that holds my mouth turkey calls. It even has deviders so the lences wouldn't touch. You ought to check out your local sporting goods store for one of these cases. 0 -
I have a solution, for now. I obtained two camera lens filter cases. These are for very old filters. Unfortunately, the clear plastic case unscrews to two pieces, and each case is about 2.25 inches in diameter. The good news is two umbral lenses nested is an exact height fit. So even though the cases are oversized, nested lenses do not shift.
My next step is to check out diaphragm call plastic boxes.0
