The Model 92 was one of my old bosses favorites (along with every other Winchester) and was a very popular model for Winchester during its production run, which ended with the start of WWII. Over 1 million were made with most being 24" rifles. Carbines, take-downs, trappers, and muskets were the other variations availble. The carbine was introduced in 1895. Your rifle, if it is as nice as you say will have considerable value. I would guess around $1000 to $1500, perhaps more if it is very early or extremely nice. The old .25-20 still has quite a following and remains quite popular with small game hunters even today. I strongly suggest that you get a professional appraisal for a qualified Winchester expert (I assure you that is not me).
