Looking for warm shooting gloves
Hi,
Now that winter is here and I plan on doing some outdoor shooting, I've been looking for some gloves that allow me to use a firearm effectively, while keeping my hands warm in -30 degree temps. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I just plain needed a new pair of gloves as I misplaced my regular ones recently and found some excellent ones in Bass Pro Shops. I believe the brand name is Artic Freeze. Warm and waterproof. There are a number of mitten gloves made that cover your digits and then let you pull back a hood-like covering to let your fingers have full dexterity to shoot.

I bought a pair of Winchester gloves that are style # 657-0927003 and they are great. They are made of a 100% leather shell with a 100% polyester lining. I used them for hunting in North Dakota and below 0 degrees here is common. I have not used them in the -30 range but I think they would work. They are thin and warm plus they keep the wind chill off. I actually prefer shooting with them, even when I do not need them. A sports store called Scheels carries them and their number is 701 255 7255. I got mine on sale for $20.

I shoot trap (Ky.) and just recently got a pair of gloves from THE GUN GLOVE. I do not know about comfort at -30 degrees, but I used them at +20 deg. and had no problems. Go to www.thegunglove.com 0 -
I don't have a source, but I have three pair of thin gloves designed to be worn under regular gloves - one of silk, the other two 'space gloves' - which do a super job of keeping the digits flexible at low temps. Plus, you can remove the outer glove for fine work without exposing the skin to the cold. Discovered these years ago when working as a surveyor. They last pretty well. 0 -
Uncle Mike's Padded leather gloves sre great summer and winter.But they are shooters gloves and do not completely cover the fingers.

I have a pair of those mitten things that mballai mentioned. Thinsulate, not waterproof, but very very warm. I keep the hood pulled back on my left hand (my trigger hand) all the time and they work great. Just the tips of my fingers extend out of the glove portion, and it keeps me plenty warm. Mine have leather palms, so that makes working the action a little easier. Gave $10 for them at Wally World last year.
