Pioneer Model 28
I have a Pioneer Model 28 sold by Gambles Stores Incorporated. It shoots 2 1/2 or 3" 410 shells. No other markings can be found on this peice. The feed pushes in two 2 1/2" shells everytime the bolt is pulled back. 3" shells work fine. How old is this gun and is there anyplace to get parts to repair it? Any answer as to it's value would be appreciated also. It is in mint condition other than the 2 1/2 shell situation. It has a beautiful Monte Carlo type stock made from birch or maple.

Your Pioneer Model 28 is not specifically listed on any of the "Store Brand" to Manufacturer cross reference lists I have, but it is noteworthy that all guns on the list marketed by Gamble were made by Savage/Stevens. An educated guess would be that your shotgun is a Stevens Model 51 or 58C,E, or F series. These were made in one variation or another from 1937 to 1972, with a value in excellent condition of $125-50. You can consult the parts diagrams in the Numrich Gun Parts Corp. and perhaps identify specifically which model you have. The good news is that most parts are available.
