30/40 Krag rifle parts

I am looking for some info on a 30/40 Krag rifle. Does anyone know the barrel length of the carbine version? I am also looking for a source for parts for the Krag rifle, stocks, hand guards, front and rear sights

  The barrel length of the .30-40 carbine is 22 inchs. There are four models of the carbine including the Philippine Constabulary carbine. There are several models of rear sight,however,all carbine sights both front and rear are marked with the letter "C" on the left side. Rifle sights on the other hand are not marked. Gun Parts Corporation www.gunpartscorp.com has most parts for the Krag. For stocks try Boyd's at www.boydboys.com. I own a number of Krag rifles and carbines and keep a small stock of spare parts on hand but do not have any carbine sights or stocks at present. Hope that this is of some help to you. Scout

  There is a 1899 carbine on sale right now at GB. It is a springfield armory 30-40 krag. No reserve and currently at $52.00. Hope this helps.

  Can anybody tell me if there is any appreciable difference in the handguard that fits on a 98 Krag with a 1901 sight vs. a 1902 sight ???? I have a sporterized 98 with no handguard and an 01 sight and I wanna replace the handguard.

  Yes, there is a considerable difference in the handguards for the 1901 and the 1902 carbine rear sights. The 1901 sight is only used on the long fore arm Model 1899 carbine stock and the spring clips that hold the handguard to the barrel are in different places then in the shorter 1902 handguard. The 1901 handguard has a hump in front of the sight to protect it from being damaged when carrried in the saddle scabbard. There is also a small flat on the hand guard to make room for the binding lever. The 1902 handguard is flat like the rifle handguard and is used with the shorter fore end of the 1896 and 1898 carbine stocks. The Model 1902 rear sight has a tangent curve base which also serves to protect the sight while it is in the scabbard. Hope that this is of some help to you. Scout
