Wilson CQB?
I currently own 2 delta gold cups and a glock 22 and am thinking of trading a glock and a gold, for a gun that has combined accuracy and durability. The CQB was recommended to me but seems a LITTLE overpriced. Any info is appreciated.

Wilson makes a great gun. You are buying a customized hand fitted gun and that's what you are paying for. If you don't have to part with your guns, that would certainly be preferable, but you can't go wrong with a Wilson.

I own a KZ45 and LOVE it. Wilson's tech support is very good, the gun is much more accurate than I am (so far), double-taps great, and has an very positive trigger pull. I personally like the KZ45 over the CQB because it's less expensive and holds 10 rounds (without a wider grip), but the CQB is more accurate (1"@25yds for the CQB vs. 1 1/2"@25yds for the KZ45).
My only complaint (which really isn't the gun's fault) is that it doesn't like certain light-ish loads. White-box Winchester and Speer Lawman do not reliably cycle my KZ45, although Blazer (supprisingly) PMC, Federal, Wolf (yes, Wolf) and Fiocchi are all ok. One way to shoot lighter factory loads (or hand loads) would be to get a lighter recoil spring, which is easy enough to change out. I've ordered a 16lb. spring for mine because I was having occasional cycle malfunctions after adding Wilson's compensator (replaces the barrel bushing) because of the added sliding mass. I keep my Compensator, guide rod and spring in a little pouch in my shooting bag and my stock bushing, guide rod and spring on the gun - so I can change them out depending on how I want to shoot the gun that day.
Also, I have yet to find a half-wad round that will feed in my KZ45, but it feeds fine with unjacketed round-nose - in case you need to shoot close steel.

OK, I will say it. Wilson's are expensive but "You get what you pay for." I have several 1911's and can say, without a doubt, that the CQB is the best of the bunch. Absolutely, 100% reliable and the most accurate 1911 I have ever shot. If you have a hankering for a high end 1911, swollow hard at the price and get the Wilson. You will never be sorry. 0 -
If it helps one choke down the price at all, I figured something out with the help of hindsight:
Wilson KZ45, retail: $1085
HK USP45, retail: about $725 . . .
. . . but, when you add night sights ($100) and a match trigger ($150, if you can find one) the HK comes in at $975, and does not have Wilson's accuracy or "ArmorTuff" finish.
I'm still glad I have my HK, but if I was buying my first .45 over again, I'd probably get the Wilson.

I have a Wilson Protector. Excellent accuracy and reliability. You pay more for a custom pistol, but in the long run, it is money well spent.
I have shot Kimbers and Springfield 1911's and both are good quality production 45's. They are not as accurate or the triggers are not as smooth and crisp as my Wilson. Wilson also is an outstanding company to deal with. They go the extra mile for their customers.0 -
