Under BATF rules, if the receiver was origionaly assembled as part of a rifle it is always a rifle. So what your thinking about is NOT legal.
Look into buying either a T/C Encore or Contender, Savage Striker or Remington XP100. You will be happier in both the short and long run.

Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.

Right now there are several (of various histories & manufacturers) available at another on-line outlet for anywhwhere from $200 to $1,600.

Save yourself the headaches & legal fees & put your 303 British up for auction; there's probably somebody out there who'd pay you for it, then you can go buy something that's 1.) legal, 2.) safe, & 3.) just as potent a weapon as a hacksawed & butchered collectible.

The British used to make hauta guns in 16ga and 303 that were single
shot or side by side. Usually built on a Martini action they were used to dispatch tigers that tried to hitch rides on safaris. HTH [(:)]

All the information used to be on the ATF's website a year ago with the forms...they don't offer them easily anymore and I am sure it would be a year long legal hassel to make your own firearm anymore. Here's what the ATF has for you on their site:

Because of legal reasons, and the requirement of fingerprint cards, photographs, and law certifications, the Form 1, Form 4, and Form 5 cannot be posted on our site. To receive these forms, along with the proper fingerprint cards, you can contact our National Firearms Act Branch (NFA) on (202) 927-8330.

*In 1909 Henry Ford created the Model T and it got around 30mpg..today's Ford's may be safer and more luxurious but in 100 years we've not really gotten further on a gallon of gasoline have we?*
