Sure--why not? Hard cast bullets will give you better feeding and less leading in the bore. Softer bullets may be less reliable and result in leading and loss of fine accuracy---a situation easily reversed by removing the lead from the bore. The Lewis Lead Remover is a good tool.

Generally speaking....it your bullets are cast from a good, hard lead (Lyman #2 alloy, linotype metal, or wheelweights), and the loads are kept to subsonic velocities (less than 1100 fps), you should have no problem with bore leading.

I have shot a bunch of 180 gr lead thru mine without problems. If you want to improve accuray in your Taurus, get a Berreta 96 barrel. They drop in and fit tighter than the stock barrels. I have them in my Taurus 101 and my 9mm 99. I use the Berreta 92 barrel in the 99.
