Henry .22LR lever actions/HI-Point 9mm Carbine

I got the Henry for my brother for Christmas they any good. and looking at getting the Hi-Point for myself in the 9mm to plink with and maybe a little raccoon hunting. Anyone have exp with these guns and there general quality. Thanks for any replies

Edit: thanks for the replies now I can't wait until christmas to shoot his. Read the site somemore and really want to test the Henry out and I think once I get back on my feet will pick up the hi point. My dealer said some stuff along the lines of the of like a 2 percent or something from failure on Hi points. And the thing about law enforcement but dont' know him that well and have had some gunsmith stuff done but i wouldnt' go back to him for that wasnt' to pleased for the cost and result but this is a new purchase so wasnt' to worried and he seems like a nice guy i didnt' dislike him on site like i have at other dealers. and Again thanks for the replies.

I understand the early Hi-Point carbines were crap, but the newer ones are much better. I really enjoy mine, I've been shooting it for about 1.5 years now. It is a nice, accurate little plinker for the money -- just remember that it's just a cheap little plinker. I cannot comment on the Henry.

I just gave away my high point carbine.... Funny, I don't miss it. Mine was about 3.5-4 years old. Magazines popped out when the POS was fired, 10 round mags only held 9. Forget about putting a scope on it, the plastic where the top cover goes on is your scope base and it moves all over, under recoil-heats whatever- can't keep a scope zeroed. With iron sights you may be able to get cheap pistol accuracy. Also a weird thing... It kicked... No idea why. 100 rounds would leave my shoulder sore. I am not recoil sensitive, a 300 RUM, or a 10 guage single don't bother me at all. Save your money and buy a decent handgun, or a good carbine like and M1, ruger PC9, or Marlin camp 9.

I have read some good things about the Henry rifles, but every single one of them I have seen has terrible wood to metal fit and finish. Looks like a high school shop student made it.

Taxation WITH representation isn't so hot, either!

A couple of my friends have Henry's and love them. I've heard mixed reviews on the Hi-Points. Make sure you buy from a dealer who honors warranties and make sure you send in paperwork for the company warranty right away.

Pass on the tradition, teach a kid to shoot.

I own two of the Henry Lever Action Rifles a .22LR and a .22 Mag.I think they are great little guns.As for the Hi-Point 9MM Carbine you cant go wrong.Gun test Magazine compared it to the Ruger Pc9 9MM and the Marlin Camp Carbine,and the Hi-Point got best buy.I read in Police Magazine Dec.edition some 60 some LEA are useing the gun as their patrol carbine.I bought mine with the Muzzle Break Laser sling and scope Mounts,with extra Mags.I love it its never failed me,and Hi-Point offers a Lifetime warranty for the gun.I dont think you would be sorry,there also now offering them with a Red Dot scope as well.

I have a Hi-Point carbine and it is an excellent little shooter. Like rugster said alot of police departments are using it. I also have the comp and laser on mine and it's hard to keep my laser sighted right but as far as shooting with the open sights it right on the money. I'm thinking of buying my son a henry lever for christmas but have never shot 1 so I can't say how they are.

My brother-in-law has the Henry. It shot low and right (I believe). Put a scope on it and it's a great little gun. He got a Browning BL-22 a couple of months ago and man is that a nice gun. Accurate as hell and the short throw lever is really cool.

I agree with bhayes ... the wood to metal fit of the Henry 22's is nothing to write home about. Hope yours is better than what I've seen.
