I'm no expert, but three guns came to mind:
-Wilson CQB or KZ45 compact - not cheap, but extremely high quality.
-Kahr P40 - It's .40, not .45, but the energy delivered with 165-grain SD loads is comperable to .45 ball. I've heard they are very well made and the are VERY small. I'm want one, but live in CA where they are not "drop-tested for safety" so I have to find a used one

Colt Defender, Para Carry, Kimber Compact CDP. Another very good choice would be the single stack (so much thinner) Glock 36.

I will have to third the model 30 as a carry gun. i am a 1911 junky, but the 30 is hard to beat. I have Colts, Kimbers, Star,Springfield, H&K, SIG,etc. in 45 acp, But I use the 30 for concealed carry.

I fourth the G30, that is what I carry. However, your choice of the 245 is a good one. Fine gun.

    Buy low, short high...

I also would pick the Colt Defender. Why? Because I own one and for carry I don't see anything else out there thats as good and as light as the Defender. 22 1/2 oz and 8rds.

I'll add to the Glock 30 vote, but for a slim second in 1911 style, a Colt Commander would get my recommendation.

I love my 1911s (Colt, Safari, Kimber) and I often carry my Colt Compact concealed. I also have grown to appreciate Glocks (I like the Gl 23 for concealed carry). Having read the responses to your question, I am going to take a close look at the Glock 30.
