how to get guns from home to home

i grew up in new york and when the navy moved me to hawaii, i left some guns at my parents house.

how do i legally get them to my home in hawaii, besides paying for a 1500 plane ticket and retrieving them myself? i read on the atf site that a person could legally ship own firearms thru fed/ex ups from home to home. would i personally have to drop them off at the shipper in ny or can a parent do that for me?

    you can ship your long guns directly to you at your new address...period I am telling you what is in the 2000 ATF regulations. YOU CAN SHIP YOUR LONG GUNS TO YOU AT THE NEW ADDRESS BUT YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN OPEN THE PACKAGE...YOU DO-NOT-NEED TO GO THRU AN FFL... get the 2000 ATF reg's and read it for yourself!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Rotsaruck trying to get UPS to ship a gun. Here in OK they won't touch one and give a speech about it being illegal, etc, etc, in total disregard (or ignorance) of what is legal and what is not. I pack up what I have to send, so far pre 1898 pieces, and have it picked up at the local gunshop.

    As a Marine stationed in Hawaii, I feel your pain of getting firearms onto the island. As far as I know, you need to send your firearms from a FFL in NY to an FFL here. You can get them sent through FedEx or UPS for 25 to 50 dollars per gun depending on size and weight. Then you need to get them registered at the police station. It is a long and painful process, but its worth it just to have your guns.

    im across h3 in pearl. have you done any hunting or civilian shootin in hawaii yet? i have found a plot of govt land that is open to rifle hunting for pigs.

    It might be less expensive, and a lot less trouble, to simply buy a new rifle there in Hawaii, do your hunting, then sell it before you leave the islands.

    i am considering buying some new guns, and my guns are safe at home with my parents. thanks for the advice.

    it could be a bit costly to send 10 guns ffl to ffl.

    Hey, sounds to me like you have a great, wife-proof argument for buying a new gun (or two). You might even be able to argue that it will save you money! What a deal.

    HPH: I sold a shotgun to a guy over in Hawaii a few months ago and the only thing we had to do was ship it 2nd day air to his dealer, the buyer said that all guns coming into Hawaii most be shipped 2nd day air , state law I guess

    If you are an officer in the military you can legally ship them USPS, you can find the rules on their website. So if your in the Navy, have your parents address it to Admiral John E. Doe, US Navy 1312 Corpus Christi Way, Hawaii 56892.....And have your parents NOT say what's in the boxes when they ship them...if a postal inspector finds them he'll see the rank and let 'er slide by....hey I've done worse.

    Technically you are supposed to tell the Post Office there are firearms in there but their regs state the box can not be marked as a firearm so how the heck are they gonna know?

    Technically to comply with the shippers regs. you have to have an FFL, ATF regs say it's ok but the shippers regs. bear fines and jailtime also....Don't you hate feeling like a felon trying to ship a hunk of metal to yourself?

    Heh I just thought of another way for you to ship those guns I used once. If you did not ship stuff from your home of residence to your first duty station you are allowed to, so go to your ...we call it TMO in the Air Force(Traffic Management Office)...and talk to them. I had some shippers go straight to my dads house and load up a motorcycle and fishing gear, guns,etc into a crate and ship it to me after being in 10 years! Just because I never did the shipment at my first base they let me do it. Anyways that way you are fully legit on the laws just as long as your not shipping a Howitzer or anything.
