COLT ACE CONV. FIXED SIGHTS??
I AQUIRED AN COLT ACE CONV. WITH SOME INTRESTING FEATURES.1 POST WAR THIRD ADDRESS, 2 ROUND TOP SLIDE, 3 FIXED COMMERCIAL SIGHTS, 4 VERTICAL SLIDE SERRATION. 5 INTERNAL MILLING OF SLIDE LIKE THIRD ADDRESS VERSION.MY QUESTION IS HAS ANY ONE ELSE SEEN SOME THING LIKE THIS??

What you probably have is a .22 to .45 Conversion Kit which was manufactured about 1954. This was the year Colt went from the "rounded" top slide to the "enhanced" square top slide. They also changed from the straight up vertical serrations to the "slanted" ones appearing on the "70 Series" type guns with the square top. The old "Colt Master" adjustable rear sight, used from 1947 until 1954, was also discontinued. From 1954 up to and including 1984, these conversion kits were provided with adjustable "Accro" rear sights, or with "Fixed" sights. The fixed sights command about a $50 premium over the Accro sights in kits which are in 98% or better condition.
It is not uncommon to find a few of these kits which contained some of the "old stock" parts during the model transition. Colt did not "throw away" what useable new parts they had on hand, rather they simply "used them up" during the Model changes. Hence, you can find a "mixture" of some of the features during model changes. Most Advanced Colt Collectors are aware of these type of "transition models" and know they occur in quite a few items. Mostly, however, little if any significance is assigned to this fact and values aren't generally affected except in this model where a "fixed sights" model will command a slight premium if in extremely good condition.
I would consider your Conversion Kit to be a little bit "different" and enjoy that novelty as it would be a little different than the average. Whether or not that difference would be of any special interest to a Collector would have to be determined. In the meantime, enjoy it.....and its differences!
