    Sorry about the M15, it is a pre-M15 (not marked).
    The "K" is on the left side of the butt, then the serial number on the right. There is a "N" stamped on the left side of the frame, where the grip panel goes. Stamped on the bottom of the barrel, above
    the ejector rod, is "KN" and the serial number. I believe, with the number on the barrel, this indicates that it was factory rebarreled, and probably nickled then also. There are no polishing marks and the other markings are crisp.
    My father was a police officer in the early sixties. He bought this one from the mayor (he had a very large collection). As far as I know this was the only handgun my father bought, I did get him a
    Model-60 later. When he went through the police academy, the instructors really liked his Smith. Another tidbit of info, dad was the first (and only that I know of) time a son graduated the academy before the father, so they let my brother present dad with his diploma. Dad was old enough to be "grandfathered", but he wanted to go to the academy anyway. That is all the history I can provide.
