Remington 40xb value

I have an oportunity to get a 40xb in .308 set up for stripper clip's from the Remington custom shop. has less than 400 rounds thru it stainless, adj. McMillian etc. He want's 1,000.00. I want to set up a bolt gun in .308 with a laminate stock, contimplating the ruger varminter with lam and heavy barrel for $600. but would like one of those fancy thumbholer's. and build my own, any input? thanks GP

  I've got one of the Rugers listed now with a scope and bipod for around that. This gun is nice and shoots accurate.
