What's the deal with most people wanting to be paid with paypal. Does it protect the seller or buyer or both, and is it safe.

I notice the rules of the Forum say in part:Complaints about businesses, persons, or transactions unrelated to this site (in general all complaints will be deleted). So I will not say what I think about Paypal until I find out if it is breaking the rules. I will say I am very mad about something. LOL

I've used it at least 25 times with no difficulty. It is safe and secure in my opinion. It sure saves time because there are no two-way mailings (only one-way) and no trips for money orders. This is in the opinion of a buyer. I've never been a seller. Any of you care to comment? 0 -
I have used it each way. I have not had any problems. But it has had them. E-Bay just bought Pay Pal in July, and made a few changes. They just started something new.. When you pay for something, You can buy insurance on it. I have not done that Yet. It's Mickey Mouse, to get it set-up, Takes a few days..But, I like it, saves a lot of time.

I have used it to buy and sell. It makes it a lot easier and it saves time not having to wait on the mail for your money. I havent had any problems with it.

What I cant understand is why these people don't just take your credit card instead of having you go through paypal.

I've used it to buy and sell over 100 transactions and have never had a problem, it allows me to accept credit cards without having a expensive merchant account with some credit card company, no credit card machine and second phone line yada yada yada ... and has lower processing fees than if I did have a merchant account. It also is a nice place to keep my "Gun Money" plus I have a debit card so I have full access to it all the time.
The only time I ever had a problem was as a buyer ... a seller I bought an item from, (not through an auction) didn't send me the item, and didn't return my email ... I contacted Pay Pal and they locked his account "pending investigation" I got my item rather quickly after that, along with an apology.

Paypal can get complicated, and the rules have changed several times.
They have 3 different kinds of accounts, plus you can be either "verified" or "unverified"; you take your chances when you buy from an "unverified" seller. You may or may not attached a bank account or credit card to your Paypal account.
The only free use is with a personal account. You need to keep a cash balance in order to buy anything (you can electronically move cash in from your bank account), and the seller must have cash in HIS account.
Using an ebay credit card account makes sense if you only buy/sell inexpensive items. But, if you buy/sell something for, say, $500, that percentage takes too big a chunk out for my budget.

I have been using PayPal for almost three years for both buying and selling. When I sell, it is laid out as a option that about half of the buyers use. I have only had one minor problem with a payment that was quickly cleared up.
I have heard of buyers being disatisified with a purchase and PayPal doing a charge back on the seller.

I've used Paypal for years to purchase items on the internet including several guns from Gunbroker - never had a single problem. I just wish more Sellers would accept Paypal and charge the extra 3% - its a heck of a lot more convenient than having to run out to buy a money order or waiting for my check to clear. Speaking of Gunbroker Auctions - I won't bid on an item that has a Reserve Price - if the seller doesn't know what amount he wants for the gun then I don't have time to play guessing games with him. As soon as I see the "R", I'll ignore the listing and look elsewhere on Gunbroker to find the gun I'm interested in. I think sellers posting a listing with a Reserved Price are shooting themselves in the foot as far as selling the weapon. Its just my opinion but I'm sure others may feel the same way.

Used PayPal many times. By far the easiest/fastest way to transfer monies, and you have immediate record of transfer.
