ALCAN 12GA BRASS

I CAME ACROSS THIS BOX OF BRASS SHELLS NEW AND UNLOADED. THE BOX IS KIND OF A MUDDY GOLD COLOR WITH ALCAN COMPANY, INCORPORATED, ALTON, ILLINOIS. IT ALSO HAS ON SIDE OF BOX GIULIO, FOICCHI, LECCO, MADE IN ITALY. ON TOP OF BOX IT SAYS AMOUNG OTHER THINGS USE ONLY G57 F PRIMERS. MY QUESTION IS WHEN WAS THIS PRODUCED AND THERE VALUE. THEY DO NOT LOOK TO BE VERY OLD.

  Im not posivitive, but these were sold mostly by Herters, back in the
  late 1940's and 50's. 10 shells per box. New and unprimed. The
  "Cowboy shooters" seem to like them for their matches. The Rem. # 57
  primer is the correct one and a few shops have some hanging around yet. The primer pocket can be reamed out slightly to accept the 209
  primer however. Usually they are a bit long for the old black powder
  chambers and need trimming for many. Correct wad is the 11 ga. wad
  as the case is thinner than newer shells. (available at Dixie Gun
  Works). I have found a good starting load is 75 grs ffg black powder
  and 1 1/8 oz shot and wads to fit that load. Over shot wad can be
  held with Elmers glue and can be slightly "crimped" . Used this
  load in my Winch. 1887 lever 12 ga with good results. I would estimate selling value to be around $30.00 per bx of 10. Clean
  Shot powder (FF G) works also good and is cleaner and same load.
