ithaca rifle

Needing info on an Ithacagun model 72 saddle gun. I've checked GB an two gun shows and can find very little info on these rifles. I am looking at one each in .22 and .22 mag. The actions are very smooth and overall rate around 95%. They were made in west Germany, and look quality made. Any info is appreciated!

  If my memory serves me right the Ithaca Saddlegun was made by Erma-Werke in Dachau. Should be quite similar to the current Henry lever action as they bought the machine works from Erma-Werke in the bankruptcy sale. Well made but not a lot of value 150-175 in 98%.

  I have one that my dad gave to me about 22 years ago. It is a great shooting gun and I have never had a problem with it. You wont regret getting it.

  I OWN THE .22 MAG , I PAID 200. ABOUT TEN YEARS AGO AND DONT REGRET IT FOR A MOMENT!

  Thanks for the info. The finish on these seem nicer than on the Henry (which sell new ~$200 for the long rifle at WallyWorld). Maybe I'll make an offer after the New Year, if they don't take it, nothing lost.

  Raskil;
  The Ithaca saddlegun was made in germany by Erma-Werke. They are of good quailty and nearly flawless in operation. The fit and finish is usually better than the current Henry, which is a good little gun, and have better sights. Some had a lanyard ring on the right side of the reciever, some did'nt. But they are pretty nice little rifles. If you buy them, you won't regret it, especially if you can talk them down on them. Haggaling makes the deals even better.

  raskil - I you get them and want to sell one, let me know. I like Ermas and would love to have that rifle. My son-in=law has one that he won't let go of!
