Vertical Grip on Cobray M11/9mm????
Is it legal to put a vertical hand grip on a "Pre-Ban" Cobray M11/9mm?
It has the barrel threads for "attachments".
So, although you see them advertised in numerous places, my question is: are they legal?
Thanks

NO
The vertical foregrip is legal on the full-auto M11, but not on the semi-auto. They were very commonly added by people, because they wanted one on their gun, but they weren't legal.0 -
This question pops up from time to time and as Iramsx says it is not legal. By adding a second grip to a pistol it becomes a "Any Other Weapon" and is subject to the National Firearms Act. If allowed in your state, you can register your Cobray on a BATF FORM 1, Pay the $200 tax and be okay. Another possiblity is to have a Class II manufacturer (if you can locate one willing to help you) register the Cobray for you and then transfer it to you on a BATF FORM 4, for the $5 AOW transfer tax. Preban or postban make no difference, you can't add the front grip and be legal.

Of course the same thing goes for a Tec-9 although I see them all the time. I even bought one a couple a years ago from a dealer and it had the fore grip!
