I've got 3 of them. Mine are early specimens, and were actually ordered pre-production. The serial no.s all fall in the 22xx range. With the exception of the receivers, all parts are new or almost new G.I. Mine are great. Other worthy contributors to this forum dislike them intensely and say that the quality went downhill with later production. Sooooooo....I would say that it depends on what you are looking at; early or late production. 0 -
That sums it up about as well as can be done.
Make sure you shoot it with GI mags and check the headspace.
If OK then you can get them cheap.
I wouldn't buy one without trying it or a return privilege.

The poor quality Fed Ords can be identified by:
- fake flash suppressor (depressions that don't go through)
- crude, unmarked metal parts
- rough, soft wood stocks that look like a middle school shop project
Assuming that you are considering purchasing one, it would help if you told us the asking price. At $250, I'm sure all of us would say ,"Buy, buy!", but at $850 we'd be more likely to say "Run!"

I have had one for about 18 years..... Shoots as good today as it did when I got it. CPERMD is right about the mags, It only likes the REAL GI Mags. I just got some THERMOLD 20rd mags... Have problems with them feeding in the FED. But it works good with all my SA M1A's. Buy it if it's cheap !
It will hurt you, More than it will hurt me..

I bought one for around $550. It shot about 2 1/2" groups at 100. I got a nice unfinished match grade stock out of a shotgun news ad and glass bedded it . shot moa groups after that. sold it for 700 here on GB buyer was quite pleased. 0
