Muzzle Loader Pistol maker
I have an old muzzle loading pistol that is double barreled. The barrels are 3.5" long with an overall lenght of 7.5". Cal is unknown but it has a bullet mold with it and a holster. The words stamped on the mold are Colt Patent with the numbers 01477. It has pearl grips on the handles and has a 3/8' bore in barrel. Can someone help me identify the maker of this pistol and possible year of manufacture?
thanks,
Elaine

Hello Elaine, Does you pistol have any writing on it at all? Any numbers, engravings, markings, anything at all? Can you show us a picture of it? I'm sure someone here can i.d your pistol if you give us enough info. Thanks. 0 -
Well we know that you have a COLT Bullet Mold...But as for the Pistol....I have no idea...If I had to venture a Guess...I'd say Belguim was probably the Country of origin...Is there an OVAL with the Letters E over LG in its center, some where on the Barrels? If So...then its deffinately Belguim...A COMPLETE and TOTAL DISCRIPTION would be nice..even a Photo would be appreciated...Keep in Mind that I/We can only see what you discribe thru your Eyes only....I/We need every Mark, Number and Letter to be able to be of assistance....best..

It appears Ladies and Gentlemen that Elaine has a RIMFIRE and Not a PERCUSSION PISTOL...! She sent me Photos and my database says it looks like an AMERICAN ARMS CO.,WHEELER'S PATENT double barrel pistol, circa 1866 to 1878...The Bullet Mold is a Colts Bullet Mold...and deffinatly does not go with this Pistol...The Pistol in Question has a Steel Frame and the Original American Arms was Brass...But........I have heard of several Steel Framed Models in .38 and .41 rimfire Calibers...These little Pistols came in .22, .32, .38 and .41 Rimfire and in Combinations thereof...and command upwards of $1000.00...The Owner says there is NO Markings on the Barrels or Frame...So until it can be proved that She has an American Arms, Wheeler's Patent Pistol..It will have to be considered a Copy by this Author....

If you would like to see a picture just email me.
I am more confused than ever. The only markings are the
serial numbers 01477 on the frame handle of the gun.
