Scope on ar
I bought a Bushmaster ar with a Bec 3x9 scope mounted on it. I shot it and it shoots about 2 ft. high and I can't adjust it down.(run out of ajustment)
It has a handle mount. (no name on mount)
What are my options? can I shim the back of the mount? do they make rings one taller than the other? I would like to make this scope work. I also need a cheek rest it seems. What kind? I have never had a scope other than a .22
Thanks in advance for the help

Get rid of the BEC it will only give you fits. For an AR I prefer red dots or if you have a several hundred dollars laying around go with an ACOG.
When Clinton left office they gave him a 21 gun salute. Its a damn shame they all missed....0 -
Try a different mount, with the same scope, or a different scope with that same mount. You will know what the problem is then. I got a cheap mount at a gun show years back. It it was bad. But the Bec's are a low end scope. I would never shim the mount...

Had same problem. Gun smith drilled & tapped front of mount
& counter sunk a small set screw with lock tight. Did not take
much to raise front of mount. I have not had a problem with it.0 -
It is possible that your handle mount is on backwards they have a tapper and this will cause it to shoot real high. 0 -
GPWEAPON has the right idea, turn the mount around. If that doesn't work, email me, I can supply you with the solution to your problem. 0 -
Thanks for the help. The Bec is off and I will try another scope or a dot. The mount is the same front and back, and the handle is flat neither has a taper.
Thanks again.

I took a 2x8 Tasco off my .22 and put it on. I will try it out in my back yard tomorrow and let you know. Used same mount but different rings.
The tasco (19.99) was a cheap scope also but it works good on the .22 and should give me a idea of the situation.

Took the ar out back and was in the black after 3 rds. Will fine tune it more when it gets warmer ( 18 degrees and flurries ) Must have been the scope.
