Night vison scope
I'm wanting to buy a relative inexpensive night vision scope for my AR15 223 and do a little coyote hunting at night. I saw a generation one scope model #DN 140 made by Newcon at TGB auction for around 400.00. My question is, are these scopes worth the money and will I be able to see anything with it? I don't intend to do a lot of hunting at night so don't want to spend a fortune on one of the high dollar rigs. I'm hoping someone has used one of these scopes and can at lest give me an honest answer before I buy it.
Thanks JW

The first generation scopes are short range at best. The picture you see thru the scope is mariginal at best. And if the IR is the only light, range is limited to about 30 yards at most. A full moon will help, and if the coyote looks at you so you get the eye reflection you can push the range out a little further.
