S&W 65 - 3" or 4" ?

i am looking at getting a SW65 however whats a better barrell length the 3 or 4 incher? i will mainly use for home defense so i know what most of you will say about a smaller barrell being easier to conceal/hold or not as heavy but what about other reasons? what opinions do you guys have?

  They each have an advantage. For such close work..(well under 20 feet more like 10) the shorter barrel is much nicer. BUT a 4 incher points better and less recoil and muzzle flash/blast. If you have to carry it at times a 3 inch is nice. The velocity isn't much difference either way. Also I wouldn't pay more than $25 or so for one or the other over the other etc. Which ever you choose make sure it has a rubber grip (recoil control/weapon retention) and choose a grip that fits YOUR hand. That is vital. A great choice by the way. You won't regret it.

  Here is a good pic for you to do a comparison, the top is a 4" and the middle a 3" I personally like the 3" RB.

  My choice would be the 3", as stated above easier for retention, rubber grips are a must in my opinion, better comfort and control, i might also suggest glaser safety slugs for house use, dont over penetrate and no worries about the loved ones in the next room.

  I'd say go with the 3in. RB over the 4in. SB. There's actually very little difference in recoil recovery when compared to the 4in. tube due to it's excellent balance, plus it gives ballistics that closely approximate the longer barrel.
  
  Are you aware this is the stainless version of what was once the FBI issue revolver? I used to carry one and am still kicking myself for trading it off.

  txs: no... i was just looking for a 357 at a decent price and i liked the length and look of the model 65. when i was younger i did think it would be cool to be in the FBI too... but not now, with a family. i need to come home everynight, especially with a 5 week old son.
