Savage switch barrel (again)
Hey,
I ordered a 111E in 30-06 yesterday. When asked aboutthe range of cartridges I could use(.473 base) my dealer said "anything from a 35 Whelen to 22-250".
I questioned the 22-250 feed ability in a long action. He then related that the 22-250 came out, originally, in a long action.
He seemed to be very knowledgeable about switch barreling. Does anyone know about this?
Thanks
Bud

The early Savage 110 used the long action for all calibers. They used a magazine block and a different bolt stop to take up the space. You might do ok w/o the mag block but I've seen the shorter cartridges jump out of the magazine an/or not feed properly. They can also nosedive and hit the front of the magazine well.

Thanks Mobuck,
I called Shooter's Supply today and had them send their catalog. I think the Savage is going to be a kick in the head. I have a Sauer 202 that I've had nothing but problems with(parts availability). My son has been bugging me to let him have it. I think I'm going to make him a deal he can't refuse. Thanks again.
See ya,
Bud
