Question on what a firearm is worth?

Hello everyone. I hope there is someone that might be able to help me with the value of a firearm. It is as follows:

1951 Browning #5 Grade Over & Under
12 Gauge, 28" Barrel
Improved & Modified Chambers
Esquisite Engraving
EXCELLENT CONDITION

    Thank you for your help. But I have one question, not to doubt your nollege on firearms but I was just at another site and saw 3 of the same guns that were going for 4,500 to 6,000. Is that possible that is is worth more than you estimated?? Again I am not being sarcastic just wondering.

    I think he missed the "1951" part of your description,it's not a modern Citori. The book value on your gun is more like what you have seen on the other site. These books are just a rough guide but they aren't that far off. My 4 year old "BLUE BOOK" says $4950 in 100% condition for the Diana Grade(Grade 5). Also says: add 15-20% more for round knob,long tang stock variations(pre-1966),pretty sure yours would have the round knob being a 1951 vintage gun.I don't know a lot about Browning shotguns,but do know those old high grade models aren't cheap.

    I read the book more thouroughly for my own education. It says in the postwar years this particular grade was known as "Grade V" until Oct. 1959 when it was renamed the "Diana" Grade. In 1985, Browning resumed production of these old high grade Superposed guns on a custom order only basis. They were made entirely from parts made in Herstal,Belgium and the engraving was to be on par in quality of the originals. The "Diana" Grade on these newer models had a list price of $10,350 ....the book price on one of these newer guns is $5800 in 100% condition,says there was up to a 1 year wait to get these. Best I can do ...sounds like it's worth a few bucks.
