are Norinco MAK 91's worth anything?

Earlier today I ran across one at the gun show just as this guy was packing his table. The $350 offer he made caught my attention and needles to say, I bought it. Did I just screw myself on this deal or did I do well? Also, the rifle has a milled receiver and is brand new unfired. It also says national match on the left side of the receiver. Any info would help.

    operator, if I remember correctly the MAK-91 was a 23" heavy barreled version of the MAK-90 and came fitted with a bi-pod. Now a days a basic MAK-90 sells in the $400 to $500 range; I'd say you got a nice deal. In fact, if memmory serves me, that rifle sold for a little less than $400 when it was imported back in 1994-95, before Clinton pulled the plug on Chinese firearms with rifled bores. There won't be anymore of these imported again, so it is sure to go up in value. The national match notation was added in 1994 to help with the idea that the rifle was a "sporter" and not a re-worked AK which was designed to beat the 1989 import ban. Who would have ever dreamed such a thing!

    Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, the bipod was taken and used for another AK pior to my aquisition. I wonder if I can buy another on that is identical to it.

    OPERATOR, NO PROBLEM! You can order the bi-pod from CDNN at 800-588-9500. The part number is #NORPOD and the price is a mere $18.99. I had ordered a few of these earlier this year and sold them all to folks in the same boat as you- at a premium price I might add! I can't do that to my GB friends, it is not ethical, so please order it directly. This is the same exact bi-pod as OEM for your MAK-91 and will fit perfectly, or so my customers told me. Call them first thing Moday morning and get that bi-pod!

    The NHM 91 was a stamped receiver, long barreled, thumbhole stocked Norinco AK. The MAK 91's that I have handled, were in fact a milled receiver, with the long barrel, thumbhole stock, etc. If the one you purchased is one of these with the milled receiver, then I'd say you did very well.     Mark C, A bit of a correction, the "National Match" designation was on pre-'89 ban heavy barrel Polytechs as well, not just the post ban firearms. I have one, near mint in box, which is designated as such.

    Norinco IMHO is a descent Gun Manufacture,there are plenty of them out there.And the Chinese Army has Managed to Defend their Borders from the Russians with their Norinco's LOL.

    Thanks for the input guys, I knew milled receivers were worth something but just wasnt sure how much. Another thing that bothered me about this guy was because he was selling a long barreled mak90 for more $. Might have been some confusion on his part. Kimber, I'll send it to you for free but there will be a material handling fee of $700 to cover the expenses of packing .
