Rifled slugs vs. Sabot slugs

I just bought a rifled barrel for my 870. Can I only shoot sabots, will regular rifled slugs work,or damage the barrel ?

  slammer - regular foster slugs wont "damage" the barrel but will foul the rifling rather quickly if not cleaned (with a brass brush) regularly. I use Lightfields and they shoot great. Ya ... a bit more expensive but really only shoot, what ... 10 a year ? Do yourself and the bbl a favor and stick with what was designed for rifled bbl.
