ANOTHER COLT QUESTION---REAR SIGHT

NAVIGATOR
To adjust the rear sight on a Colt revolver do you:

Turn the elevation screw COUNTERCLOCKWISE to RAISE the point of impact of the bullet---and turn the windage screw CLOCKWISE to move the POI to the LEFT?

    When raising the rear site your gun will shoot higher this is usually done by backing out the screw counter clockwise, if your gun is shooting to the left you would move your site to the left again this is usually counter clockwise at least it os on the colt AR-15

    It is the .38 Spl "OFFICE'S MODEL MATCH" but it does have an adjustable
    (elevation & windage) rear sight and a fixed front sight. The arrows on the rear sight seem to indicate the adjustments are as described in my original posting. I just wanted to check my interpretation of those arrows.

    It does have two adjustment screws--one for each function.

    My question is which direction to turn each screw. Is the direction,
    as described in my initial posting, the correct interpretation of the arrows on the sight?

    Why not just turn the screws one direction and see which way the sight blade moves? If it is moving the wrong way, turn the opposite direction.

    Well guys, I thought of turning to see which way the sight moved but upon examination I found that there were no reference marks--just the arrows. I assumed all Colts were the same as all S&W's are the same.

    Strange there are no reference marks, but you can make them with a pencil, and rub it off when done. Even easier, put your finger on the sight blade as the screws are turned and you will feel the way the sight moves.

    You need to move the rear sight the direction that the hole in the target needs to move, on a new or unfimiliar gun I simply mark the gun and sight with a marker and turn the adj. screw and make sure I am going the right way by noteing the movement against the marker. When done the marker is easily removed with alcohol. Good luck Marc
