i've recently came across a pistol that looks like an older .45 the name on it is "fabe martin A bascaraneibar 705 cal...
i would welcome any help on figuring this out....thank you

  martin a. bascaran was a spanish manifacturer located in eibar, spain.
  they manufactured mostly semiautomatic pistols that were copies of the browning m1903 until the late 1920's (maybe later).
  
  pistol of the world by hogg and weeks has some good information on this company.

  bgoforth, got it right! It never occured to me that the originator ran the letters together...Thats why it never came up in my database....Duh....!Here's what I know about this Gun...
  The Martian, made by Martin Bascaran "MB" on the left grip tang and magazine bottom. Slide serrations are straight rather than curved. The name "Martian" is both a referance to the Roman god of war and a pun on the manufacturer's first name. The way its Stamped on the Slide is....FA DE MARTIN A.BASCARAN-EIBAR
