COLT
I bought a Colt New Service at the auction the other day( really legaly stole it)[:D] in 45 long colt,serial number 319xxx, dates it to 1923. My question is that someone shortened the barrel and put a ramp on it and now it looks like a Python on steriods[:0] Was this something that was done a lot back in the 30s,40s,50,???????[}:)][}:)] Any info on this pistol greatly appreciated[^][^][^]

There is no way to know the manufacture date. All Colt records show is the shipping date. The only way to know the actual shipping date is to buy a factory letter. It is common to find Colts that were shipped out of sequence, usually later but sometimes earlier for some unexplained reason. For instance, I have a Officers Model Match in .22 WMR that was shipped about a year before the .22WMR was cataloged.
The charts, which are general in nature, show that your revolver was probably shipped in 1960, but production was low during that period so it could be off a year or so.0 -
