    Hello "Mike Whiskey"

She must be a Crass or Lewis. I have had both and still have a Crass in 12 gauge plus American Gun Company plus Meriden in 12 gauge that I load "blackpowder" shotshells for. I have several other Damascus barreled shotguns including several muzzle-loaders. All of my Damascus barreled shotguns are checked on an annual basis by my gunsmith that has "fiber-optic" equipment necessary to check INSIDE the barrel for any evidence of delamination. If there is any hint of delamination, it immediately becomes a "wall-hanger".

The quickest route is to find someone in SASS that is doing loading for "Cowboy Action" shooting and let them do the custom reloading using modern 10 gauge components, but Pyrodex or Clean-Shot as the powder.

Alternatively he can find solid brass shotshell casing --- often on "eBay" --- but they are going to be expensive. He can also find Alcan 10 gauge components "for brass shotshells" --- not just 10 gauge and reload using preferably Pyrodex CTG (almost impossible to find now but best choice), Pyrodex RS, or Clean-Shot as the powder charge. All of them require at least 60 pounds of pressure when the over-powder wad is set.

If he goes this last route, he will need to find a Lee Loader in 10 gauge to do the reloading with.

If a Crass or Lewis in 20 gauge comes into your hands or better yet a Davenport --- PLEASE get in touch with me as I would be interested in purchasing them.

    Best Regards
