Sig Pro Problem......
I have already emailed "nunn" knowing that he is a Sig Pistol Armorer but I would like to see if anyone has any ideas about my problem while I wait for his email reply.
I have a Sig Pro 2340 and have owned it for about 7 months. About 3 months ago the little hole where the firing pin strikes the round began oozing a rust colored grease. I clean this weapon when needed (mind you I am only familiar with a basic take down. I do not know how nor untill I recieve further instruction will attmept to break down the slide where the problem exists). There are no Sig Armorers here (at least any I can find) in Vegas and I grow more and more concerned with this problem as I carry this weapon.
Please help!!

Sounds like it might be some kind of preservative or grease, you can use some spray degreaser like rem cleaner or if you are like me, everyday brake cleaner containing trichlorethylene, after flushing hit it with some compressed air and see if it still oozes, repeat if nessacery, good luck, and let us know your progress... 0 -
I think I know what you are saying,and I think it is probably excessive factory lube.Ive seen some that was a brownish rusty color.I would dab it off as it comes out.Take the slide off and lay it on the side or the way its runnng out and just dab it up.I would not attempt to take the fireing pin out or break it down other than you would for basic cleaning.IMHO you are just seeing run off of a well preserved gun.If I may say so you ave a great gun that should last a lifetime with routine Maintenance.I have a couple of Sigs and I love them.One is the PRO SP2340 in .357sig.

Just possible you got something in there that didn't belong, but it also might be like the copper lube used on a Glock slide which you should leave alone even though it looks like rust. I wouldn't worry about it unless you are gettting rounds that don't fire when chambered.

Hi, I had the same thing on my 2340, after a few hundred rounds and some cleaning it seems to be gone. Probably an assembly lube from sig. btw, great gun if anyone is in the market, I have four sigs and this is my new favorite. Thanks.
