What are the most accurate 40 cal. semi hand guns?

What kind of shooting are you going to be doing ? Are you looking for a race gun or one for self defense ??

I am looking for one that is accurate and collectable. One that will hold up and not lose it's value over time. I am thinking of the H&K USP 40 and the Walther P-99... Which is best and is there any other to consider?

Both are good choices however, don't rule out Sig or Glock as these are of the highest quality, extremely dependable and hold their value as well as any.

That is a difficult question,the CZ75B would be in the running a Glock 23,a HK USP 40 the Ruger P94 would be in the running,a Kimber.It could be alot of opinions.But it would be hard to go wrong with any of those mentioned in this thread.Alot depends on the shooter.A gun I can shoot well may not shoot as well for you??I think its a very good question,but there is no dominant shooting gun.Its kind of trial and error.But the .40caliber is a accurate cartridge.Good luck.

Welcome to the forum there are a lot of good people here that are glad to give a hand if they can.

I think you will find that accuracy is more dependent on the operator than the gun on any good quality pistol. Go to a well stocked gun store or a gun show and handle as many different brands, sizes, and makes as you can. Which one felt just 'right'? That should narrow it down to 2 or 3.

Now go back to those that felt 'right'. Insure the gun is unloaded,pick a safe aiming point, close your eyes, raise the gun and pull trigger. Were you on target? Did the trigger pull cause you to overextend your grip? Does it still feel like a natural extension of your hand?

There are opponents and proponents for virtually all brands. I still maintain that 95% of the guns available are more accurate than 96% of the people shooting them. Go with the one that fits you and you are comfortable with.

The most accurate .40 S&W pistol I have fired is an STI. Nice firearm but not worth the price tag as far as I am concerned.

HK's, Sigs or Glocks are all accurate enough for the job. None of them are likely to be or become "collectable". As a poster above mentioned check out how several feel to you. If you can rent and shoot them as a range, you will have an even better idea of what works for you.

I reccomend a Sig-Sauer also. Worth the extra bucks over a less expensive handgun if you can afford it.

I also recommend a Sig.I have a 239 for carry, but the 226 is the one I am the most accurate with. I also like the HK USP in 40 but it is still not as accurate as my Sigs. Try several before you buy for what fits you best. A quality firearm will always keep a premium price for resale, so buy the best you can for your money. Dandy

You will never go wrong with a SiG P-229, and for an extra $125 you can get rhe .357 sig barrel and have two guns for the price of, well two guns, but you get what you pay for and after all, how much is your life worth?, good luck...
