Winchester 1873 DOM & value
I have a Mod 73, 32-20 Cal. in very good condition (my opinion). But I have also showed it to others who are knowledgable about old firearms and they concur. First four numbers in Ser # are 3038. I am looking to find out the value and date of manufacture, any help? I have looked at others for sale and I estimate DOM around 1890, does that sound right?
Thanks, Eldon

You need to be a bit more specific on the total number of digits on the serial number for me to tell you dom, also is it a carbine?musket? or any other special order items on it? does it have the orginal sights? dust cover present? and original? bore condition? blue condition? rust? pits? wood condition? reblued?? or wood revarnished or sanded?,in other words do you have pictures you can send me? I collect old lever guns.Hope this helps.

To Pappy; The serial number is 3038xxB It is a Rifle 24" bbl, all original as far as I know ; sights, dust cover all there and work well, bore very good with very slight pitting is some areas, slight surface rust, maybe 50% org. blue on receiver less on barrel, wood good with some knicks & scratches from use, never sanded or refinished to my knowledge, been in family since long before I was born (I am 60), my Dad bought it around when he was a teen (he was born in 1897). I am looking at value in Gun Traders Guide and it looks to me like it could be worth quite a bit! Let me know if you would like pics. 0
