Difference between Armalite and Eagle??
I was looking up the prices of Armalite rifles from a online dealer and near the end of there price lists there were several rifles that said Eagle instead of Armalite. The prices were much less expensive and the pictures appeared to be identical rifles. What is the difference there?? Thanks

There really is no difference. Eagle Arms was a separate company until a few years ago, when it was bought by Armalite. They both made mil spec excellent quality rifles. I have rifles made by both companies. I have one gun that has the names of both companies stamped on the lower.
Either way you will get an excellent rifle if you buy one.

Sorry Lefty
Incorrect.
Eagle Arms bought all the rights to the Armalite name and then assumed that name.
Not related in any way to the original Armalite group.

You can find the history of armalite at http://www.armalite.com/library/history/history.htm 0 -
i was told once that eagle is a lower priced line of armilite . same manufactur but not chrome lined bore or chamber , reducing the rifles cost .it made sense to me but i haven't verifed this information .you mite want to look at this angle . wrench . 0 -
cpermd.... Sorry I switched who bought who, but the point I was trying to make was fact that the two companies have merged. 0 -
Thanks guys. Would the Eagle product be of any lesser quality than the Armalite? 0 -
Since Armalite is cadillac and eagle is the chevy of the same company, the quality should be there.
Your just not getting all the features and the name is gonna make resale alittle less lucrative.0 -

Typically you get what you pay for but from what I've seen from AR's in general the average shooter wont notice the difference ... even mil-spec kits guns properly assembled will easily shoot around 1MOA ...
I don't know the price of the Eagle but you can easily assemble anything from a 16" shortie to a 24" bull barrel for $600 or a little more ... uppers are already assembled and head spaced, you can either by a stripped lower and a complete kit of the configuration you want ... or whatever complete upper and lower you want.

I have 2 eagle arms EA-15's. I am more than happy with both of them! Did buy a full size A2 upper from JT Distributing and it fit perfectly. 0 -
Nearly 6 months ago, I talked with a customer service rep about which
model AR I should buy. During our conversation I asked about the Eagle named rifles, to make a long story short: there is a table, a long wrectangle shaped table. No one sit's on the small end's. On this table are tons of rifle parts but on one side of the table rifle assemblers are for Eagle stuff and across from them are the Armalite assemblers. The only problems which arise are when they reach for the same part... Once in awhile just to to break up the boredom the assemblers en-masse change side's.
I ordered and bought the AR10A2, stainless, 308, with the front sight assembly and rear sight carry handle, has the pic-a-ninny rail(or what ever they call it) paid $1384 and have shot is 5 times. I like the looks, the way it feel's, the way it shoot's but I despise the way it eject's spent cases which bounce off that triangle shaped metal formation which stick's out like a nipple on the right side of the receiver. Can't imagine how gouged up the nipple will be if I shoot a couple hundred rounds thru this AR, not sure about keeping it for that reason alone!

Michael... That little triangle shaped think on the right side is the brass deflector, and if it has brass marks on it, it is doing its job.
It is there to keep brass out of the faces of left hand shooters.
Iam left handed and appreciate that little protrusion.0 -
Hi Lefty,
I have heard that, all I am thinking is: if I decide to keep this AR I can only imagine what that nipple will look like after a number of round have been fired thu it and it get's 'worn'. The only way I can visualize: cylinder ring on Blued revovler that get's that shinney wear spot. So I am guessing that on this AR the nipple will get pounded from spent cases slamming it and eventually it will get gouged and the nipple will get dimpled.0 -
In 26+ years dealing with AR's, I've never seen one so beat up its dimpled ... a good AR smith can tune the extractor spring so it doesn't hit the deflector at all ... or you might express your concern to Armalite, maybe they will send you a new extreator and spring ...
