Would like to know how many was imported to Springfield Armory before being banned and modifications.

  I was unaware that Springfield imported any UZI pistols. No mention of such in any reference books I have. Have you got one? If so, what does it have for markings, S/N, etc.? Anyone else have one?

  I do have an unfired one in the original box. It says Springfield Armory on it and has a shoulder holster rig attachment on the gun.

  Okay.......what other markings? Doesn't it have a manufacturer's name other than Springfield? Any Model Designation? Does it say "UZI" or does it just look like one? Going to take a lot more in the way of a description to work on this one!

  It is a marked I.M.I. uzi pistol With Springfield Armory marked on the receiver. It is like any other Action arms imported uzi pistol.

  Yes Springfield did import the Uzi pistols.
  
  I imagine, they imported less than Action Arms.
  
  I would call Spingfield, give them the serial #, and ask them how many they imported. SA is usually pretty good with that info.
