Trade in value on SW40VE

Can anyone tell me what type of trade in I can expect to get on my Sigma 40VE thats about 6 months old and in pretty good shape?

  Todd, there are far too many variables involved in trying to put an exact value on your trade. I learned the art of trade-in pricing over 25 years ago from a man who was one of the best in the business. I have a formula that I use based on all sorts of factors such as condition of the trade item, market demand, wholesale price of a like new model, and the price of the item you are trading your pistol for. The pricier the item purchased, the more you'll earn for your trade. As a dealer it is in my best interest to get your trade pistol retailed out of my inventory ASAP and selling it at a low price to the new customer is a key.
  
  I won't give you my formula I use, but I will tell you that your SIGMA has a wholesale cost to me of $297.50. You would never get me to give you that much for your used pistol. There are simply too many other used SIGMA's out there, many like new, and yours is in "pretty good shape". For under $300 I can buy a brand new SIGMA so yours is not going to jump out of the display case unless I sell it WAY under what I'm selling new SIGMA's for. Used pistols are a good buy for consumers, but only because they are bought at reduced prices and the savings passed on. If you paid any where near the $450 MSR price for your SIGMA, I think you'd be better off keeping the pistol or trying to sell it yourself, otherwise I think you'll end up taking a loss.

  No I did not pay anywhere near the $450 MSRP I got it from a local retailer for $299 I am willing to take a loss on it but not a huge one. I know MSRP is stupidly high based on what you can get these for around here but I would be happy to get a good percentage of the used Glock 23 I want. I realize that the dealer will only take a trade on what he thinks they can sell however the used sigma seem to sell very high for some reason. I saw a guy pay $325 for a used .38 that was in no where near as good of shape as mine. You can tell it has been fired but there aren't any scratches on the slide or the frame and the sights are in perfect shape.
