Welcome aboard! I'm not familuar with this Burnett muzzle loader, but in regards as to whether it is 50 cal or 12 ga, simplely measuring the bore would reveal this answer. 50 cal will have land measurement of approx .500 inch (assuming rifling); 12 gauge should measure around .725 inch. Muzzle-loaded shotguns have little to no choke to enable loading the componets in the far end. Shotguns are normally smooth bores as well.

Really Not enough information Tendered to make any competent replies to...Whats needed is a complete and total discription...I/We can only See what you discribe thru your eyes.....Unless you can Post a Photo...which would be of immence help! I can tell you this...The Book of American Gun Makers by Satterlee and Gluckman shows that there was a Gunmaker named William Burnet in Youngstown, Ohio..circa 1880-1882..Individual Makers never produced Guns with Model Numbers as they only made a limited amount of guns and they hardly warrented a Model Number..
When you can Post a precise and detailed discription I'm sure we can be of some small service.....Best...
