Fishing Knife
My Father gave me a fishing knife that has got to be 40-50 yrs. old because he had it as long as I can remember. They make cheap imitations, but I've been unable to find one on the market today of the same quality. It is a Kabar T29 w/ about a 4" blade, and a bottle opener, fishscaler and hook de-gorger on the other "blabe". It has an interesting automatic brass locking slide for the bottle opener "blade" and a hook sharpener on the side. It is yellow with red lettering of the name (very slightly worn Kabar lettering, but the T29 is like new) and the brass still shines top and bottom for those of you familiar w/ the model. Does anyone have a clue where I could find something new which is comparable in quality, and about how much is this one worth? I'd say it's condition is 95% or more (I'm not a knife expert) no nicks or scratches anywhere. I don't have the original box or papers. Any help would be appreciated.

Seargents Guide to knives and there value,Kovels knife guide,The K-bar collectors club,Levines price guide, are all good sorces of info. It is realy hard to put a value on older modles without seeing them due to condition being so subjective. Knives of greatest value have a lot to do with how many were made in what handle material and the date of manufacture. Bone handle being prefered, and most made befor 1943(when most factories were gearing for war production). As to finding a knife of that quility now, look to CaseXX or try K-BAR. Again knives are very subjective so I'm sure there are as many opinions as people. Hope this is of some help. 0 -
