remington model 660
Sorta stole a Remington 660 in 350 Rem Mag(less than $1/.001 bullet diameter) at auction this weekend. Couldn't figure out how to remove the bolt for cleaning, searched old post and solved that problem. But in doing so have a couple of new questions.
On the left rear side of the receiver just above the wood are 2 small screws positioned front and back of the bolt stop. they appear to do nothing since with the bolt removed the reciever appears solid and the screws do not even go all the way thru. Are ny old eyes missing something? Why are they there?
On the laminated stock there appears to be two very small pins front and rear of the magazine area near the bottom, is this normal?

thanks, as I stated the old post had answered the bolt removal problem. But I was curious about the screws and stock pins.
Now have another question also: Is the barrel supposed to be floating like it was on the 788 I had?

I don't as a rule shoot factory ammo, so ammo cost is not of too much concern, a little disapointed in available bullets selection tho.
Since it has see through scope mounts already I will have to shoot more than normal during sight in to be sure of the iron sites and the scope. Never considered recoil to be an issue in a hunting rifle and it's not something I plan to shoot at paper other than getting ready to hunt.
Bought it because it was cheap, i didn't have one, and it's a pretty gun with that laminated stock so I knew my wife would like it and I wouldn't get in trouble.

I promise this will be my last post for a while. My father-in-law has a remington model 660 in .243win. It is a conservative 90% condition and has a older springfield scope with weaver rings. Any ideas on the value of this rifle??? 0 -
The blue book value is $385. I don't know if this is a real world price or not. This would be plus the value of the scope and rings which would probably add very little. 0 -
is the 660 for sale?????? 0
