Dances with sheep- MAS info
DWS, since the last topic was closed before I got to tell you this, I have used several loads in my MAS with reliable operation, mostly using slower powders. I find that they aren't a problem in the direct gas op systems, while they can be in an op rod gun. I have had good operation with 147 and 150gr. FMJBT using IMR 4350 and the data supplied with Lee's set of dies. My best results were 1.0 gr. short of their max load which is 48.5 gr., ie my load is 47. I currently am playing with some WC852 ball which is somewhere in the same vicinity for burn rate though the can says to use H414 data, I find that it is notably slower and even a max H414 charge often leaves unburnt powder. Accuracy has been good with both loads though, but not great as I have been using cheap bullets. In both cases I use mil spec primers as my gun often slamfires.
I have also used French and syrian surplus with no trouble and I will be intrested to hear what your trouble is in the end.
"...hit your enemy in the belly, and kick him when he is down, and boil his prisoners in oil- if you take any- and torture his women and children. Then people will keep clear of you..." -Admiral of the Fleet Lord Fisher, speaking at the Hague Peace Conf
