ASTRA
I have an astra cal 3.65 a25. It needs a left side grip and mag, but I am not sure which model or age of this gun. All the type on the slide is small, nothing like anything I have find on any web pages. It is my understanding that Colt was importing these guns, but there name is not located anywhere that I can see. If someone could let me know what information they might need in ID this pistol I would appreciate it greatly.

I have owned, sold and shot several of these pistols. They are of decent quality and a tremendous value for the money. Tantamount to a foreign Ruger or Smith.

I have three Astra revolvers (most people didn't even know they made them)I consider them of high quality one is a .44 Mag 6" another is called an Astra Terminator that has a 2&5/8" Barrel the other one is a .45 Colt 6" .I also have a Mod 1921 9m/m Largo Semi Auto that was used by the Germans in World War 2 .Some call it the Water Pistol.I enjoy them all.

I like the older military Astra pistols. The Colt .22 short and .25 acp with a hammer were made by Astra. I have 2 of the .22 short pistols and have been happy with them. 0 -
I have three Astra's; an A-100, A-75 and A-70. I think they are typically a very solid value for what they cost. The construction and design is solid. I think they might last as long and be as relible as their more expensive cousins; SIGs, HK, Walther, etc.
The styling and finish isn't as fine as these much more expensive pistols but, Astras cost 30-50% less. Some people have shared the opinion that they are actually of heavier construction. Simpler and heavier. So, if you can pay a multi-hundred dollar premium, go for a Sig, Beretta, etc. But, if you just need to pop off a lot of (typically 9MMs) then the Astra is the bargain.0 -
I have an Astra A-100 in 45ACP and love it. Controls (Hammer drop safety etc.) exactly like a Sig. Now looking for an A-80 in 38 Super.

Astra pistols have a decent reputation for accuracy and durability. I bought a ten + year old Astra A-70 at a gun show, that had who knows how many rounds put through it. It was still very accurate and had extremely managable recoil, especially for a small compact type pistol. However if you are getting an automatic keep in mind that Astra is out of business and replacement parts (at least for the A-70) are a bit scarce and generally fairly expensive. Mine was about due for a new clip and a new recoil spring so, even though I liked it, I went ahead and traded it towards a Rifle at a gun show. If parts and accessories were cheaper I probably would have tuned it up, and used it for a carry gun. It seemed to be well built and had a well thought out design. I have never tried out their revolvers but they have a good reputation as well, and generally look to be a bargain. 0 -
My only experience was with a Astra Constable that was my carry weapon for about 5 years. I shot the crap out of this gun and it performed perfectly, otherwise I would not have carried it so long. I sold it to a friend and I still regret doing so. It was a great gun; accurate reliable, concealable, and easy on the hand. I put possibly 5000 rounds through it. This was in the early 1970's. Consider this; During WWII, Germany purchased pistols from Astra. Model 300 in 9mm Corto (Kurtz), Model 400 in 9mm Bergmann (Largo), and Model 600 in 9mm Parabellum.
Out of all foreign pistols used by the Germans, the Astra's were the only ones that did not have to be proof tested by the Germans or produced under their control.
If their quality satisfied those guys, You can be pretty sure they'll satisfy you.

In case anyone wants to see them ,here is a picture of three Astra revolvers that I own.Top one on down a .44 Mag Terminator a .38 spl. heavy frame (and I mean heavy!!) last is a .45 Colt. I also have two 6" Astra revolvers .45 Colt and a .41 Mag (very rare) that are new in their boxes.The lock up on all of these guns is much tighter than the dozen or so S&Ws that I own. 0 -

I have only heard good things about the revolver line. Some of the semi autos were copies of the Sig line. My 2 cents [8D]
