I have an action from a turkish mauser 8mm stamped 1944.What calibers am I limited to when choosing a new barrel? What are the pressure limits on these actions? The action appears to be from an unissued rifle so is in pristine condition. Thanks BDJr

the lust for power should exclude those who desire it from ever having it-Plato

That's one reason some actions are prefered for building rifles using longer rounds. Lots of people grind the front of the mag opening on the bottom of the action and use a longer magazine box. In some cases, you can use certain types or shapes of bullets to keep the OAL short enough to work. Careful reloading can work but you won't be able to use most factory loads. Most gunsmiths have their own way of handling this problem although over grinding of the action will weaken the lower locking lug recess.

    You might consider 300 WSM.No mag length problem with it.Good Luck,Roger (heckmanj@ptsi.net)
