Eddie, I think that you need to rethink this entire deer hunting venture.
Here in the Northeast, many states/counties only allow the use of shotguns for deer. Many of those that allow the use of rifles have a minimum muzzle energy requirement, which the .45 ACP probably won't meet. Even if it's legal, the rudimentary sights of the Auto Ord, combined with the short effective range of the cartridge, make accurate, humane kills very difficult. I would think that 50 yds would be the maximum range, and even at that range you would be more likely to wound, rather than kill, a deer.
If you are determined to hunt deer, I suggest that you buy a high-power rifle, not use a rifle chambered for a handgun round.

YES THERE ARE AREAS THAT HAVE MINIMUM MUZZLE VELOCITY REQUIREMENTS.
I AM IN DELAWARE COUNTY NEW YORK...THEY HAVE NO RESTRICTIONS OTHER THAN NO RIMFIRE AMMO ALLOWED.I HAVE HUNTED WITH A LEVER 44 MAG A FEW TIMES AND BEEN LUCKY.MOST SHOTS IN THIS AREA ARE 50 YARDS OR LESS.I THOUGHT SINCE I JUST GOT THIS NEW TOY I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE IT OUT FOR A TRY.I DO THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR INFO.
