Armalite AR17 Shotgun
Does anyone have information on the AR17 Shotgun: manuals, parts, value, etc.?

I have two of them. I have a copy of an early magazine article about them. I have choke tubes and wrenches. It sure as hell ain't a trap or skeet gun. At least not unless you and your Chiropractor are Real Close! But in a field where you carry the gun a LOT! more than you shoot it (hunting chukar partridge in particular) the gun is a delight. As I understand it - something less than 3000 were ever produced - with 80% or more of those in the 'Gold' version but a few 'Black' ones were made. I have one of each. They were just way ahead of their time. Now everybody wants exotic alloys, light weight, interchangeable chokes, low maintenance materials and construction. But THEN! Well, aluminum was for airplanes and plastic was for toys!

Mad Dawg, Sorry I posted your post trying to get back to you. I'm new at this! If you look into this link Http://www.armalite.com/library/history.htm you can find information on the AR17 about 3/4 of the way down the page. According to this information there were only 1200 made etc. If you go into your "search" and type in AR17 Shotgun the first link is in Japanese, but there are pictures, one of the pictures shows a ribbed barrel. Do you own one of these? There's been in golden gun in our family since they were made. I use this "lightweight" on grouse hunts to Maine. It is a pleasure to hunt with. Do you have any idea of the value of these guns? Would you know of any other links that I could find information on the AR17? Thanks for your reply. 250 0 -
I recently acquired an AR-17, looking for dis-assembly / re-assembly instructions - would be interested in anything available about this arm. 0 -
cut and pasted: Built only between 1964 and 1965, a total of 1,200 of the AR-17 two-shot auto shotguns were made. Supposedly, there were also 800 additional complete parts kits produced. MSRP at the time was approximately $130.

You won't find any replacement parts for the AR17 around except for a barrel every now and then. Along with their AR10 there are no parts to be had. On the other hand the AR7 is still being made albeit by another company, but at least you can find parts for them. 0 -
