Mossberg 695 Slug Gun

I currently shoot a Remington 870 wingmaster with a rifled barrel, but I am not satisfied with the accuracy at the range. . . it seems to be no different at 50 yards than my smoothbore. I am wondering if anyone out there has experience shooting the Mossberg 695 Bolt action rifled barrel shotgun and can compare it to a remington. I'm specifically wondering if the accuracy could be increased due to the rigidity of the Mossberg design as opposed to the standard 2- part reciever/barrel set-up that most shotguns have today. Thanks for the help!

  Yes, the 695 is an accurate gun.
  
  Unfortunately, mine wasn't real user friendly. Trigger is terrible and let's face it, most of us are never going to practice enough(with slugs no less) to get real good at a quick follow up shot with a bolt action.
  
  So if you routinely have several seconds to gently squeeze the trigger and just don't need second shots, the 695 might be for you. Or if you know a good gunsmith to fix the crappy trigger.....I really didn't and mine is gathering dust.
  
  Many guys out there love the 870 for deer. Trigger work is easy to come by, and if you are real serious (and don't mind making the gun a deer only gun) you can have the barrel/action pinned for better rigidity - which is supossed to make them much more accurate.
  
  Lots of times a smooth bore will shoot quite well out to 50 or even 100 yards.
  
  I now use an 11/87 with cantilever barrel and scope. Sent the trigger off to be lightened - now the gun is dang near perfect. If it doesn't put the slug where I meant for it to go, it is because of me, not anything that needs changed on the gun.
  
  I can remember 1 1/2" groups @ 100 yds. with the 695. The 11/87 will do 1 3/4" (at least) and is much easy to use, for me.

  I have a 695 that shoots very accurately at 200 yards. i use Brenneke slugs that say FOR RIFLED BARRELS only on the box. I have a scope on it which makes it a perfect deer slaying gun. Those slugs worked the best for me.
