I forgot the other shotgun

I have a 16ga Mossburg & sons model 190 KB that I also inherited. Its a bolt action 16 ga with a ported barrel and an adjustable choke.
IF anyone has any more information about the gun Id really like to know including history and potential value.


It shoots a 2 3/4 round but with the ported barrel would birdshot be a good idea???

  Shooting birdshot (I believe you mean small diameter shots) through a ported barrel is no problem, the shot is up to speed when it reaches the ports in the barrel and shouldn't have the effect of compression as the acceleration puts on them.
  
  At the speed they travel at, they can't swing out through the ports either, or get stuck while racing by the ports.
  Definately not if they are in a plastic wad/cup or whatever it's called in english. =o)
  
  I had a Mossberg 835 with ported barrels, I sometimes used 2mm shot - I believe those were names size 9. (usually used for skeet/claypidgeons) There was no problem with the ported barrel eventhough I tried steel shot with a fiber-plug (the shot wasn't encased in a cup, just on a plug like a cork in a bottle).

  Your shotgun was built as a low to moderately priced gun. Its value in exc cond is about $90.00, good cond $50.00. Mossberg no longer makes that model. To find out what year it was made you could contact Mossberg and give them the ser number and mod number.

  I have the same gun in 20 ga Mod.185K .Bought it new in 1950 or 1951 in a local hardware store in Mass. A dollar down and a dollar a week until it was paid.Cost was $26.50.Still shoots great.If you shoot slugs set the choke at Improved Cylinder.If it's as old as mine you won't find a serial number on it.If it has a number it was made after 1968.
