scope repair
hey guys just pick up a scope and got a question. It is a blue
scope and is pretty marked up where the rings were can this be
fixed? and how will cold blue work after a light sanding? give me
a shout on what to do.Or if there is a place I can send to have done

I tried a quick search and came up with nothing.
Anyone know of a place I could have a couple of old scopes repaired? I have 2 that are with family heirloom guns I'd like to have fixed. Both have broken wires in the crosshairs, and are quite dirty.
I know this may devalue them to some extent, but would like them fixed all the same.

Cold blue will work, but I'd only use 000 or 0000 steel wool on the scope. Yes, it can be reblued, but must be completely disassembled first; that is not cheap. Unless it is an expensive scope, it is probably not worth the expense.

Before you try to reblue that scope, make sure it's steel...If you try and reblue an aluninum tube, you may pull your basket and find it empty... Aluminum stuff is anodized...The best refinish I've found for aluminum is paint and if no glass is involved as in a trigger guard.... Paint it and bake it in the family oven....

Jim stark is right. I work for bushnell and all of our scopes except our Elite series are aircraft grade aluminim. The Elites are titanium. You might be better off using a sharpie and just filling in the marks. 0 -
