Which cleaner?????

Thirty years or more ago I bought an Ithaca O/U Model 600 to shoot skeet and quail with. It has the iodized receiver, gold trigger and the barrels are blue. The iodized receiver is heavily ingraved as well as the trigger guard and trigger tang. Over the years the ingraving has become dingy. Also areas around the safety and barrel release which are hard to get to need attention as well. I've tried silver cleaners, Brasso, etc, but nothing seems to help. Any ideas?

  muley,
  I don't know if it will work for your problem but I have had very good luck with the product Nevr-Dull. If you haven't seen it, it is a small blue metal can containing a metal polishing wadding. I've used it on brass, copper, silver etc. with pretty impressive results.
  The wadding is just damp with some kind of solvent, and you just tear off what you need. I think it beats Brasso hands down.

  Hello Muley, jewlers rougue on a Q tip is great for hard to get to spots. It's the stuff the jewler uses to polish jewelery. It,s color coded, use red it is the least agresive. You may want to try it on a small spot out of the way at first to see if it is what you want.

  I love "never dull" also, but have never used it near blueing...Be careful.... It takes off all kinds of rust, tarnish and corrosion... Blueing is a type of corrosion...

  Break Free (CLP)works well in removeing rust.Put it on heavy and let it sit over night,then wipe down.Repeat the process a couple of times.It usually eats away at rust.
